Description
The building is a detached barn located at Owdeswell Manor, dating from the 17th century and the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone with a concrete tile roof. The barn has a rectangular shape with a central projecting porch, which is flanked by extensions from the late 18th to 19th centuries.
To the right of the porch, there is a lean-to that has two plank doors set within cambered-headed stone surrounds featuring keystones. Each door has a single two-light window to its left, also with similar stone surrounds. The lean-to extends around the right gable end and includes a 20th-century aluminium garage door on the north side. The lean-to on the left side of the porch has been converted into a double garage, retaining the heads of former windows and doorways, with stone steps leading up to a plank door in the left wall. There is a small double door opposite the projecting porch and a stilted-headed window with shutters in the west gable end.
Inside, the barn features five bays with original roof trusses that include collar and tie beams. The porch displays compass drawn rosettes and a scratched counting tally.
