Description

ANDOVERSFORD GLOUCESTER ROAD SP 01 NW (east side) 5/11 The Royal Oak II

Inn at end of terrace. C18 (probably in two phases). Ashlar facade, otherwise coursed squared and dressed limestone, artificial stone slate roof, limestone and brick stacks. Rectangular main body with parallel gables extending back at rear, extension curving away left of main body. C20 flat-roofed extensions at rear not of special interest. Main body; 2 storeys and attic lit by two 2- light C20 roof dormers with glazing bars. Three-windowed facade; 12-pane sashes with wide glazing bars to first floor, plate-glass sashes with horns and horizontal glazing bars to ground floor. All windows with plain architraves. Band between ground and first floor windows. Central part-glazed door within Gibbs surround. Concave eaves cornice. Extensions in similar style, but with lower roofline on left; three 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars to first floor, blind windows to ground floor. Band between ground and first floor. Gable-end stacks to main body. Hipped roof to extension with gable-end stack. Interior not inspected.
