Description

Carpenter's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with early to mid 19th-century alterations. The front is built of Flemish-bond brick on an ashlar plinth, while the rear features brick-nogged timber-framing and has a tiled roof. The front elevation has three windows and is one room deep, with a two-bay rear wing at right angles, both sections being two storeys high.

The front has a six-panel door, which is slightly off-center to the left and accessed by two stone steps. The top two panels of the door are glazed, while the rest are plain, and it is sheltered by an open, single-storey gabled porch supported by timber posts. On either side of the door, there is a three-light casement window, each with eight panes, stone sills, and rendered lintels that are lined to resemble voussoirs. The first floor features similar windows on each side, with a two-light window above the front door. The eaves have a wide, plastered soffit, and the roof is hipped.

There is an external brick chimney on the left return and a lateral chimney on the right at the rear of the front section. A cellar door is located on the right return. The rear wing has two-panel high timber framing on each floor, with the framing being wider and lighter on the yard side and heavier on the rear. There is an open-front verandah with timber posts on the ground floor of the yard side. A lean-to attached to the gable is noted but is not of special interest.
