Description
Whiting-ash Farmhouse is a house that possibly dates back to the late 16th century. It features a combination of timber-framing and brick, topped with a tile roof. The building has two storeys, with a cross-wing on the left side that is framed with close-studding and includes curved tension braces on the lower storey, as well as deeply-jowled principal posts. On the ground floor, there is a small 19th-century canted bay window, while a 20th-century casement window is located on the first floor. The exposed truss displays a collar and a tie-beam with a cambered top. The right range of the house consists of two bays and has an irregular framing and fenestration. The entrance door is situated on the left, positioned between the principal posts. To the right of the main structure, there are brick additions. The house has chimneys located on the left-hand wall of the cross-wing and on the rear wall aligned with the left-hand bay. The interior was not accessible during the survey conducted in June 1986.
