Description

Home Farmhouse is a house dating back to the 17th century, with possible earlier elements, and altered in 1798 and subsequently. It is timber-framed with brick infill and a tile roof. The main range consists of two bays, with timber framing arranged in four rows of square panels, except for the right-hand end which is largely brick with a single horizontal rail. A projecting cross-wing is located to the left, characterized by jowled principal posts. A timber canted bay window with sash windows containing glazing bars is on the ground floor; a first-floor window sits below the tie-beam. The roof truss features raking struts connecting the tie-beam and collar. A plaster inscription on the gable reads "1798", potentially referencing the date of the bay window. A doorway is situated in the right-hand return wall of the cross-wing. Chimneys are present to the right of the first bay and on the right-hand gable. The interior was not accessible at the time of survey in June 1986.
