Description
Hewlers Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Cinderford Road in Brain's Green. The main block features rough rendering and ashlar stonework, topped with a concrete tile roof. To the left, there is a low block made of thin-bedded rubble with an asbestos-cement slate roof, followed by another section that is rendered and ashlar with a concrete roof similar to the main block. An attached barn on the right is constructed from rubble and has a concrete tile roof.
The main block includes a stack on the left and a staircase that rises three storeys, with one window on each front. The road-facing side has a four-light wooden mullioned casement window on the ground floor, while above it are three-light chamfered stone mullions with a simple stone drip. To the left of the main block is a mid-20th-century entrance door and porch set within a two-storey block. Inside, there is a fine oak octagonal post newel staircase that spans two floors and has a circular plan, located near the main stack. The attached barn consists of two bays supported by triangular trusses.
