Description
Lypiatt House is a dwelling dated 1830, constructed of coursed sandstone with a Welsh slate roof. It was formerly two cottages and is designed in a T-plan, though it was likely originally L-plan, with the left section built in thin bedded stone. The house features gable stacks and a third stack at the ridge near the left end, all made of cut stone.
The building is two storeys high with a one plus three-windowed facade. On the ground floor, there is one small square fixed light and two 2-light cross mullion and transom casements, all set under stone lintels with inscribed flat arch voussoirs. The first floor has a small 2-light fixed casement and three small sashes without bars. The entrance includes a four-panel door, two of which are glazed, situated under a flat hood supported by brackets. At the back, there is a two-storey extension that runs into the hillside. Inside, there is a 19th-century straight stair located in the right half of the house.
