Description

Green Acre, formerly known as The Old Malt Shovel, is a dwelling located in Awre Furnace Valley, Blakeney. This building dates from the early 19th century and is constructed from squared end coursed sandstone with flush limestone quoins, topped with a Welsh slate roof. It features parallel ranges and has gable stacks on the right and near the left gable, with the latter possibly being part of the original structure.

The building is two storeys high and has a façade with one plus three windows. The first bay contains sashes without bars, followed by five cross mullion and transom windows, some of which have leaded upper lights. The entrance is centered on a six-panel door beneath a segmental hood, with an additional four-panel door to the left under a transom light. The rear of the building is lower and has four windows, featuring original two-light casements. This section has a low-pitched roof covered with asbestos-cement slates. At the time of the survey, the building was neglected but is noted as an interesting remnant of the area's industrial history, situated near a former mill.
