Description

Two cottages, dating from the early 19th century, are located on Blakeney Hill near Awer, and are known as Colstry Cottages. The cottages are constructed from sandstone rubble with a Welsh slate roof. They form a long block with gable stacks, a third stack positioned near the right end, and a lean-to addition at the left gable. The cottages are two storeys high and have two and then two windows respectively. Centred to each pair of lights are doors, with an additional ground floor window in the second cottage. The windows are 2-light casements with stone lintols and cills, with the exception of the extra window in the second cottage, which is a cross mullion and transom casement with a transom. The lean-to has a 2-light casement and a 4-panel door. The first cottage has a plank door, sheltered by a flat stone slab hood supported on brackets, while the second cottage has a newer door of a similar design.
