Description

The Red Hart is a public house that consists of two parts, dating from the 16th century and the late 18th century. The older section is timber framed and rendered, while the later part is made of rendered rubble, both topped with a Broseley tile roof. The building has an L-shaped layout, with a large new room added to the interior, which was built over a former external well that is now inside and exposed.

The main front features a gable on the left with a heavy chimney stack, and a three-storey section on the right that has one window. The first and second floors have large 2-light sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor has two small new sash windows and a wide new door set under a segmental arch. The wing facing the church has exposed timber framing in the gable and a new door that is accessed by steps on the right.

Inside, the heavy timber framework is visible, and there is one display panel of wattle and daub, which is likely a new addition. The older wing is reputed to have been Church Cottage.
