Description

Brays Court is a dwelling that dates from the 17th century and early 19th century. The early wing is rendered and features ashlar stonework, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The later unit is made of squared and coursed sandstone, with a hipped Welsh slate roof that has a deep eaves projection. This building originally started as a 17th-century house, which has undergone significant modifications, including a large L-shaped addition from the 19th century.

The elevation facing the road is three stories high and has two windows with sash frames that include glazing bars. Notably, there is one long arched sash window in the stair hall on the right, along with a six-panel double door that has a segmental hood supported by brackets. To the right, there are three stories with two very small casement windows.

Inside, there is a good early 19th-century staircase. The early wing has been much modified, but it retains old steep pitched roof trusses with propped principals and a deep beam that features an ovolo chamfer.
