Description

Barn. It likely dates from the early 18th century. The barn is timber-framed and stands on a brick plinth with a stone base. It has a tiled roof and a symmetrical three-unit design. The facade faces the house and features a central double boarded door, divided into two halves and with a cambered head just below the eaves. Weatherboarding covers the left wall, possibly obscuring a blocked pitch-hole. Further corrugated iron sheeting is present at the top of the right wall, above more weatherboarding. During an inspection in 1985, the barn was full, so the interior could only be briefly examined. This revealed details such as a tie beam, collar, angle struts, two pairs of purlins, and a square ridge. A lean-to adjoins the left gable, and projecting wings on either side are not of particular architectural interest. The barn forms a group with the nearby house.
