Description
The Thomas monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 11 metres north of the north-west corner of the tower of the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul. It dates from 1804 and is made of stone. The top is weathered and features a moulded edge. The sides have a raised margin and a large raised oval central panel, with oval paterae in the corners. The ends are adorned with elongated pilasters and a raised margin on the main vertical face, which also has an oval panel. The plinth has a moulded top. The monument shows some weathering and bears an inscription for John Thomas, who died in 1804, written in a mix of ordinary and italic script, including a long 's'. There is also an inscription for his wife, who died in 1826.
