Description
This is a chest tomb monument dedicated to William Thomas, located in the churchyard about 14 metres south of the south wall of the chancel at the Church of St Mary. It dates from the late 18th century and features a limestone top resting on a sandstone base. The top is flat with a chamfered edge, and it has heavy square quarter balusters along with slightly edge-drafted panels and a chamfered base. The monument commemorates William, the son of John and Elizabeth Thomas, who died in 1792. The south side of the monument has suffered recent damage due to a fire that occurred in November 1983, which affected the area between this monument and the nearby Thomas Berrow monument located directly to the south. Additionally, this monument is situated approximately 2 metres northeast of the James Gough monument.
