Description
The Chappell Memorial is a chest tomb located about 7 meters northwest of the northwest door in the churchyard of the Church of St. Mary in Tetbury. It commemorates Mary Chappell, who died in 1810. The tomb is made of limestone and features a flat top with a carved inscription and a tooled edge. It has a double moulded plinth on a large base, which was formerly railed, with stumps of the rails still visible. The base and chest are showing signs of deterioration. The ends of the tomb are plain, while the long sides have low relief panels at each end, inner reeded panels, and a central reeded panel, creating two small plain panels on each side.
