Description

Bledington Mill, now a detached house, dates to the late 18th and mid-19th centuries, with extensions added in the mid-late 19th and 20th centuries. The main structure is built of coursed, squared, and dressed limestone, while a mid-late 19th-century extension to the far left is of red brick on an ashlar plinth, with ashlar quoins and stacks, all topped with artificial stone tile roofing. The main body is rectangular, with the red brick extension housing the original mill wheel. A 20th-century lean-to extension sits on the right gable end, and a mid-late 19th-century extension projects from the front, at a right angle to the main body.

The main part of the building has three windows; two 2-light casements flank a plank pitching door leading to the first floor, located to the left of the mid-late 19th-century extension. A similar arrangement is present on the ground floor, with a 2-light casement to the first floor on the right side of the extension. The attached, mid-late 19th-century extension features two storeys and three windows with 2- and 3-light casements. A plank door with a thumb latch is located on the lower left side. The building includes a right gable-end stack, an axial stack rising from the main mill body, and a gable-end stack on the front extension. The front extension is believed to have formerly been used to house mill workers.
