Description

Mill House is a building that originally served as a mill and millhouse, now divided into two dwellings. It dates from 1790 according to a datestone, but it likely has earlier origins. The building was subdivided and extended in the 20th century. It features squared limestone on a limestone rubble plinth, with irregular quoins at the first floor, and a brick eaves course. The rear has a variegated brick extension built in garden wall bond, and the roof is covered with pantiles and has brick stacks.

The house has a two-storey front with three windows, while the mill to the right has a two-storey and attic front with two windows. The central entrance to the house is a part-glazed door beneath an unequal nine-pane sash window, with 20-pane sash windows on either side. All windows have painted stone sills, and there are painted flat arches over all openings except for the first-floor center, which features a lintel. To the right on the ground floor, there is a blocked opening that once led to the wheel chamber. The first-floor windows of the mill are 16-pane sashes with painted stone sills, and there are 20th-century dormers in the attic. The ground and first-floor openings have painted lintels.

On the left gable wall, there is a pointed pivoting window with small-pane glazing set beneath a pointed arch made of voussoirs. At the rear, there is a wide flat arch above an altered door and window opening to the mill, with the datestone positioned above. The house has a coped gable and a shaped kneeler on the left side, with end stacks. The 20th-century extensions at the rear are not of special interest.
