Description
Brook Farmhouse is a farmhouse from the late 18th century that has undergone later alterations and an extension. It is constructed of square limestone with a brick eaves course and features a brick extension. The roof is covered with pantiles and has brick stacks. The building has a central-stairhall plan and is one room deep, with a rear extension added.
The front elevation is two stories high and has five windows. The central entrance features a part-glazed door with raised and fielded panels. Above the door is a 2-light, 12-pane horizontal sliding sash window. The other windows consist of three lights; the small-paned, top-opening windows to the left of the door, and the 18-pane horizontal sliding sashes to the right. The end windows to the right are false. All windows have painted stone sills and painted tooled wedge lintels, except for the window above the door, which has a flat lintel. The building has stacks at the ends and to the left and right of the center.
Inside, the doors from the hall are six-panelled and fitted with H-L hinges. The first room on the ground floor to the right contains an enclosed staircase and plank cupboard doors to the right of the fireplace, also with H-L and H hinges. There is a plank cupboard door beneath the stairs, which is fitted with H-L hinges.
