Description

The walled garden east of the Church of St Mary in Barrington Park dates from the 19th century and is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The inner surface of the north wall is made of brick. The wall varies in height from approximately 3.5 meters to 6 meters, being tallest on the east side where it borders the road. The north and east sides feature saddleback coping, while the east and south sides have flat coping. There is a single plank door set within a flat-chamfered dressed stone surround in the north wall, located next to the entrance to the churchyard. A lean-to structure with a higher wall faces into the garden; this wall was formerly the rear wall of a range of glasshouses on the north side. The west end of the garden contains three pigeon holes. Additionally, there is a small outbuilding with a stone slate roof and an ashlar stack against the eastern wall. As of June 1986, part of the wall on the north side was noted to be partially collapsed. This garden is part of the Barrington Park Estate.
