Description
Windrush is a detached house located in Windrush Village, dating from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century extension. The building features coursed squared and dressed limestone with an ashlar facade on the main body and a stone slate roof, with ashlar stacks that were restored in the 20th century. The main structure is rectangular with a symmetrical, three-windowed facade, standing two storeys high with an attic.
On the first floor, there are double-chamfered two-light casements with plain architraves, while the ground floor has three-light stone-mullioned windows with transoms and plain architraves. A continuous dripmould runs above the ground floor windows. The central entrance has a 20th-century part-glazed door set within a flat-chamfered surround, topped by a 20th-century flat canopy supported by moulded stone brackets.
To the right, there is a two-storey 19th-century extension featuring a 20th-century four-light wood casement with a long concrete lintel on the ground floor and a five-light casement on the first floor. The building has stacks at the gable ends of both the main body and the extension, with saddleback coping and moulded kneelers at the gable ends. A cellar is present, lit by a stone-mullioned casement in the rear wall. The interior has not been inspected.
