Description
Nos 2 and 3 Windrush, also known as Garth Cottage, are a pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the 18th century, with later extensions. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and feature a stone slate roof with two restored 20th-century ashlar stacks. The main body of the cottages has a rectangular plan, and there is evidence that a former house was positioned at right angles to the main body, connected by a passage. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed extension at the rear of No 2, which is not of special interest. The cottages are 1.5 storeys high, with the upper floor illuminated by three two-light gabled dormers at the eaves. The garden front has two ground-floor two-light casements, and all casements are accompanied by a horizontal 20th-century part-glazed door that leads to the passage connecting No 2 to what was likely a single-storey wash house. The cottages have gable-end and axial stacks, with two stacks featuring moulded cappings. The interior has not been inspected.
