Description
The Gables is a detached house located in Broadwell, dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and features ashlar stacks. The main body of the house is rectangular and two storeys high, with an attic that is illuminated by three full dormers. The symmetrical facade has three windows, which are fitted with double-chamfered, stone-mullioned casements that have stopped hoods. The 20th-century extension is at a lower level and set back slightly on the right side, featuring a two-light casement in the attic and a three-light stone-mullioned window on the ground floor. The gable ends have flat coping, with a roll-cross saddle at the left end, and there are two stacks: one at the right gable end and an axial stack off-centre to the left, both with moulded capping. The interior has not been inspected.
