Description
Red Hills Farm is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a detached house. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions added in the mid to late 18th century and 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a slate roof and features a brick stack, one of which is on an ashlar stump.
The original rectangular core of the farmhouse has a late 18th-century extension attached to the rear right and a 19th-century extension that runs parallel to the early core at the rear left. The description is viewed from the rear. The house has two storeys and an attic, which is illuminated by two 2-light segmental-headed roof dormers. The façade consists of three bays, featuring 2 and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, with a leaded single light window located in the lower left. The mid to late 18th-century extension at the rear right is lit by 3-light casements that are framed by plain limestone surrounds with keystones. The entrance is formed by a C18 six-panel door located in the right-hand wall. The building has flat gable-end coping and gable-end stacks. The interior layout was altered in the 20th century.
