Description

Hesters Barn is an early 19th century field barn located in Ampney St. Mary. The barn is constructed of thin coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins, and has a stone slate roof. The south side features lean-tos forming a catslide roofline, flanking a projecting central hipped cart entry with dressed quoins and a timber lintel; windows are set into the lean-tos on either side of the cart entry. No doors are visible on the south side. The north side features a corresponding entry with a timber lintel and no visible doors. Scattered square vents are present on the exterior. The interior was full of hay at the time of survey in September 1985 and was not accessible.
