Description
Chestnut Cottage is a small detached cottage dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins and features a stone slate roof, with a stone stack at the rear gable end that has been raised in brick. The building is a small square cross-gabled structure that is one storey high with an attic, and it has a small single-storey extension at the rear, which includes a brick stack and another extension with a double Roman tile roof.
On the left-hand gable end, there is a 2-light chamfered stone mullion window with a straight dripmould, above which is a 3-light similar window with a wood casement. There is a gabled porch from the 19th century on the south gable to the left, featuring a plank inner door set in a wood surround. To the right of this gable, there is a small raking dormer and a small 2-light casement window below it. Additionally, there is a blocked newel light to the right of the rear stack and an inserted single light to the left.
