Description

Wise's Cottage is a former stable building that is now a private house, likely dating from the late 18th century. It has been restored and converted in the 20th century. The front is made of coursed rubble stone with quoins next to Wise's, while the rear is also rubble. The front features a stone slate roof, and the rear has artificial stone slates, with a lateral stone stack.

The building is a single range with a single storey and attic on the right, stepping back in the center to two storeys on the left. There is a flying easement into Wise's, and the front facade includes a room with a two-light stone mullion and transom. On the right side, there are two gables featuring large three and two-light wood casement windows. The ground floor has a small 19th-century gabled porch to the left with a glazed inner door, and to the right, there is a four-pane sash window in a flush stone surround.

The wing that steps back to the left has large twin casements on each floor, some with original timber lintels and others with concrete lintels, along with a small single-storey addition at the left end. Inside the left-hand wing, there is a room with a chamfered and stopped beam on the ground floor, and the center stair divides at the rear. The rear facade features two and three-light casements, some of which are original.
