Description
GREAT RISSINGTON RECTORY LANE SP 1917-2017 9/190 Blue Close GV II One of a pair of cottages (q.v. Blue Close Cottage). Mid C17. Coursed roughly squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins. Concrete tile roof with an ashlar stack. Rectangular plan with gable end to road. Two storeys and attic lit by a single- light garret window with a double-chamfered surround and a moulded hood and horizontal glazing bars. Original 3-light double- chamfered stone-mullioned casement with horizontal glazing bars, stopped hood and hollow-moulded mullions below. Early C20 flat- chamfered stone-mullioned casement also with a stopped hood to the ground floor of the gable end. Three-windowed entrance front with an original 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement to the first floor. C20 single-light with a flat-chamfered concrete stone surround and a 2-light metal casement within a cambered- headed surround to the left. Three-light hollow-chamfered stone- mullioned casement with a stopped hood to the ground floor, right of a C19 plank door under a projecting gabled canopy supported on wooden brackets. Two-light metal casement within a cambered-headed surround to the left. Small early fixed 2-light window with a timber lintel below the eaves on the opposite side. Stack at gable end facing the road with moulded capping and flat-chamfered skirting. Axial stack with squared off capping and eroded skirting. Interior not inspected.
