Description
No 2, Pinchpool Cottages is a semi-detached house dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a concrete tile roof on the garden front. The house has 20th-century ashlar stacks and a rectangular plan with a stair projection at the rear. There is a 20th-century lean-to conservatory on the garden front, which is not considered of special interest.
The symmetrical garden front features two storeys and an attic, with a three-windowed facade. All windows are 2-light casements with glazing bars and elongated keystones. There are two 2-light roof dormers and a 20th-century skylight situated between them. The central entrance has a part-glazed door set within a flat-chamfered surround, also with an elongated keystone. Stacks are located at the gable ends.
A datestone with the inscription 'WMM 1719' is incorporated into the stairs projection. Additionally, there is a two-light stone-mullioned casement carved from a single stone block in the stairs projection, along with a 20th-century steel casement featuring leaded panes above. The interior has not been inspected but is known to contain a 20th-century staircase.
