Description

This early 18th-century building in Fairford Market Place comprises a small house with two shops on the ground floor. It was originally listed as No 4, formerly known as The Barrel and Basket, and as premises adjoining and on the south of Laverton House. The building is roughcast faced with a stone slate roof, hipped on the left-hand return of the projecting front wing, and features a brick rear stack. It consists of a set-back section, a projecting front wing to the right marking a change in the street building line, and a small rear wing to the left. The building is two storeys high with an attic.

The set-back section has one window, while the projecting wing has two. Both feature 16-pane sashes. A small gabled dormer with paired casements is present on the set-back side. A small canted bay window forms the shop front on the ground floor. To the right, a shop front, likely dating from the 19th century, has a door providing access to the upper floors at the angle of the building.
