Description
No 1 London Street is a Grade II listed building, consisting of two adjoining houses that form the end of a row, with a ground floor restaurant. It is situated in an important location facing the Market Place. The house on the left is likely from the late 18th century to early 19th century, while the one on the right probably dates from the mid to late 18th century. Both buildings are constructed from random coursed rubble stone and have a slate roof that is hipped to the right.
The left side features a rendered end stack, while the right side has two stone stacks that have been raised in brick. The right house is an L-shaped range of two storeys with two windows that are 12-pane sashes set in flush stone surrounds, a large bow front window from the 20th century below, and an inserted door. The left house is a single range of three storeys, with two paired casements that have timber lintels on the upper floors and three 20th-century windows beneath a large fascia on the ground floor.
