Description

This is a small, early to mid-18th century house originally accompanied by a ground floor shop, with a smaller adjoining cottage to the left. The house is constructed of thin coursed rubble stone with large, flush quoins to the first floor, covered by a stone slate roof to the front and concrete tiles to the rear. A stone end stack is located on the right-hand side and has been raised using brick. The building is one range of two storeys, with a large, 20th-century rear extension that is not of particular architectural interest. The front facade features two 12-pane sash windows with timber lintels and nearly flush sash boxes, and a continuous stone sill band. A fire insurance plaque is positioned between the windows. The ground floor incorporates a 19th-century shop front with a plate glass window on the right-hand side and a glazed door on the left, flanked by two consoles supporting a plain fascia. The smaller two-storey cottage section to the left has one 4-pane sash window on the first floor, and two plate glass windows in what were previously sash and door openings, all with timber lintels.
