Description

This early 19th-century building, possibly originally two houses, fronts the Market Place. It currently accommodates three ground-floor shops – Windrush Valley Cleaners/Burford Laundry, The Sewing Box, and Derek Walker, Butcher – and a flat on the first floor. The building is faced in incised render with a moulded cornice and blocking course, topped by a slate roof. A tall brick ridge stack sits centrally. The building is arranged as a single range with two storeys. The first floor has four windows, each a 16-pane sash with a moulded, cemented architrave. The ground floor features a large, double-glazed shop front to the left, and a window and door opening to the right, both with similar surrounds and 20th-century glazing. A through-passage is located to the far right, with double plank doors and a transom light.
