Description

Gloucester House and Acacia House are two separate houses that form one building, likely dating from the early 18th century. The structure is made of random coursed rubble stone and features a moulded stone cornice at the top of the parapet. The roof is covered with asbestos slate at the back and rear of Acacia House, while Gloucester House has a stone slate roof at the rear. A large stone stack, raised in brick, is located at the junction of the two properties.

The building has a main range of three storeys, with a small two-storey rear extension that has a catslide roof. There are five windows with 12-pane sashes, timber lintels, and flush sash boxes on both floors. The centre windows are blind and have painted glazing bars, with a continuous dripmould above the lintels on the first floor. The upper floors of Acacia House have blind windows at the right-hand end, while the ground floor of Gloucester House features a 19th-century shop front with a moulded wood cornice, a central 20th-century door, and flanking curved plate glass windows with small end pilasters and square end bays. There is also a large projecting bay to the right, all set on an ashlar plinth. Acacia House has a small plate glass window and a 20th-century door. At the rear of Gloucester House, there is a lean-to with a blocked former three-light stone mullion window that has a square hoodmould on the first floor.
