Description

The stableblock, located approximately 10 meters east of The Manor in Chedworth, dates from the early 18th century and is now used as a store. It is built from roughly squared limestone with dressed stone quoins and features a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a pair of raking buttresses on the east side.

It is a single-storey structure with a loft. The west front features stone steps leading up to a low plank door for the loft, a plank door for the ground floor, a two-light window with a timber lintel, and a double slatted door set within a 20th-century dressed stone surround. There are also stone steps on the right gable end leading to a plank door with strap hinges, along with pigeon or dove holes with landings above.

On the east front, the two raking buttresses support a 19th-century two-light traceried window, which has been reused from Cheltenham College, to the left, and a single-light window with a semi-circular dressed stone head to the right. The right gable end features two two-light metal casements with leaded panes. The original cobbled standing area is preserved outside the west front, and the interior retains cobbled standing and original hay racks.
