Description
Lavender Cottage is a cottage located at the right end of a row on Church Row in Chedworth. It is possibly from the 18th century but was extensively restored in 1955, as indicated by a plaque above the right-hand window that is dated and initialled 'J.D.F.C. / 1955'. The cottage is built of limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and has a stone slate roof, featuring a 20th-century stack with dressed quoins. It has a rectangular plan and includes a 20th-century extension to the rear, which is not of special interest. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has a 20th-century raking buttress that incorporates a round-headed archway at the front right-hand corner. The ground floor has two 2-light stone-mullioned casements, one of which is from the 20th century. There are also two 20th-century hipped roof dormers with 3-light steel casements, and two 2-light stone-mullioned casements on the right gable end, with the ground floor casement being from the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included mainly for its group value.
