Description
No 2 Church Row is a cottage that dates from the mid 17th century to early 18th century. It is built from limestone rubble that was previously painted cream and features a stone slate roof. The cottage has a rectangular plan and includes a central stack with dressed stone quoins, which was restored in the 20th century.
The building has two storeys and an attic, with a facade that has two windows. These are lit by 2 and 3-light flat-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with horizontal glazing bars, two of which have early fastenings. There is a string course between the floors and a single 2-light slate-hung roof dormer. The entrance features a central part-glazed door set within a beaded dressed stone surround, which is sheltered by an early 20th-century porch that has fretwork sides supported on brick walls. The gable-end stack has flat-chamfered skirting and a moulded capping. A 20th-century flat-roofed extension is located at the rear but is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
