Description

Leafield Farmhouse, built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, is a farmhouse constructed from coursed rubble stone with a moulded plinth. The front features an artificial stone slate roof, while the rear has a slate roof. The building has large ashlar end stacks with three diagonally set square flues and moulded cornices. It is a single range of three storeys, with a rear catslide roof and a small two-storey wing set back to the left.

The farmhouse has five windows: the second floor has two-light stone mullions with 8-pane casements, while the first and ground floors feature two-light stone mullions and transoms with plain iron casements, all adorned with relieving arches and a continuous dripmould over the ground floor. The central entrance has a moulded stone doorcase with a 20th-century four-panel door and a small horizontal oval light above, framed in stone with a raised dripmould.

On the north side, there is a chamfered flush stone door surround, and all the windows are of 20th-century design. The property is complemented by low garden walls that extend south from the front door to the main gateposts, which are made of dressed stone with pyramidal caps and ball finials, standing about 1.5 meters high. These are flanked by a low drystone wall with coping stones, which ends in taller versions of the gatepiers at each end, with the right one missing its ball finial.
