Detached house, built on site of former Preceptory of the Knights Hospitallers demolished in C17. Early C19. Coursed and dressed stone with alternating flush quoins, stone slate roof, ashlar end stacks, with offset and moulded cornice to front range. Single front range and double rear range of 3 storeys, with additional lower rear range. Four windows on north west front, 9-pane sashes to second floor, plate glass sashes to first and ground floor, longer on ground floor, all in flush stone surrounds. Large pointed arch 3-light window on left hand return with Gothick margin tracery, probably a stair window, with 6-panel door below, top 2 glazed, rest recessed with moulding. Remaining fenestration of 2 or 3-light casements. The house is clearly visible through the Knights Hospitallers Gateway (q.v.) which formerly was in its grounds, and from the churchyard of the Church of St. Swithin (q.v.), and forms a group with these buildings.
