Description

The Old Rectory is a former rectory and detached house with an early 18th-century core. It was extended to the north in the late 18th or early 19th century and again in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and features a stone slate roof with stone stacks, which are external on the northeast end of the original range. The structure has a large L-shape and the original range is two stories high with an attic, facing south towards the mill leat of the River Coln.

The main façade includes five windows: four are two-light wood mullion and transom windows with timber lintels and leaded casements, and one is a 12-pane sash window located on the far right of the first floor. The ground floor has four similar windows and a 20th-century glazed door in the second bay from the left. There are three gabled dormers with paired leaded casements.

To the left, there is a lower service range that features two paired casements on the first floor, one on the ground floor, and one three-light wood mullion and transom window, all with timber lintels. The north side has a hipped projection, likely a former stair turret, which includes a 20th-century doorcase and some two-light stone mullion and transom windows. The entrance side of the late 18th-century two-storey wing has similar windows, while the garden side features large sash windows set in flush stone surrounds. Additionally, there is a small 20th-century cottage of single storey and attic at the northwest corner, which has two small gabled dormers in a swept-down roof.
