Description

Coldharbour Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from limestone and marlstone rubble, featuring wooden lintels and some marlstone-ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with concrete plain tiles and Stonesfield slate, and has stone-and-brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan with a service bay and two rear wings, standing two storeys plus an attic.

The front of the farmhouse is irregular with three windows, featuring renewed casements with three lights, two lights, and three lights on the first floor, while the ground floor has a three-light window to the left. The right window on the ground floor has been lowered to serve as a French window, and the central doorway has been converted into a large casement. The steep-pitched roof has gable parapets and projecting kneelers. To the right, there is a single-storey service bay with a stone-slate roof. The left end wall of the main range includes a gable window and a stone-mullioned cellar window, and it connects to one of the two adjoining two-storey rear wings, which are likely slightly later.

Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered spine beams and a large open fireplace with a stop-chamfered cambered bressumer. The 20th-century link and converted farm buildings are not of special architectural interest.
