Description

Number 1 Magnolia Cottages and Numbers 2 and 3 Greenside Cottages is a house and two cottages, possibly originally four, dating from the 17th century and early 18th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels, featuring thatch and plain-tile roofs with brick stacks.

The main entrance front of the taller range is mostly hidden by a tiled outshut, but the principal front at the rear displays a three-window arrangement of casements along with an eyebrow dormer. The steeply pitched roof has a central stone-based clustered stack. The lower range, which includes Numbers 2 and 3, has two entrances and six ground-floor windows, one of which is a canted bay window, all fitted with renewed casements. This roof features a small gabled dormer and has stacks at both ends and in the center. The rear of the building has additional casements and two dormers.

The earlier section was likely a two-unit lobby-entry house but has been subdivided and partly combined with Number 2. The 20th-century extensions to Number 1 do not hold special architectural interest. The interiors have not been inspected.
