Description
North Aston Hall is a country house, likely dating from the late 18th century and probably designed by John Yenn, incorporating some earlier 17th-century fabric. The house was almost entirely remodelled around 1867. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and marlstone with ashlar dressings, arranged on a double-depth plan. The architectural style is Jacobethan. The house has three storeys and a ten-window front. The front features a moulded plinth, string courses, and a pierced parapet, with transomed stone-mullioned windows. A projecting five-sided three-storey bay window is located in the centre of the front (bay 5), a single-storey bay window in bay 2, and a first-floor oriel window between bays 8 and 9. The left-hand end has a large canted bay window above a segmental-arched stone porch. The right-hand end may incorporate some 17th-century walling and includes a mullioned cellar window. Inside, there is a cantilevered stone staircase and an 18th-century vaulted cellar. The building is included on the list for its group value.
