Description

This is a mill and former millhouse, likely dating from the 17th or early 18th century, and converted to a dwelling in the 20th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels, featuring a Stonesfield-slate and thatched roof and brick stacks. It comprises a long mill range and a smaller, linked domestic range set at right angles. The two-storey mill range, built across two channels of the millstream, has numerous small, scattered windows with 20th-century casements, and a central doorway positioned above the headrace. The steep-pitched roof includes 20th-century roof dormers. The lower, thatched range projects from the right end and has renewed casements, except for one old single-light window with lattice glazing. A paved area at the rear, spanning both channels, is supported by a rubble wall containing two rubble arches. The interior contains much of the original mill gear, although the water wheel has been removed.
