Description

Somerton Lock is a canal lock built around 1790. It is constructed of brick with some stone dressings. The east side of the lock retains some stone copings, along with old bullnose brick copings, while the west side features concrete copings. The upper gates are made of steel, and the lower gates are wooden, both supported by wooden beams. This lock is connected to a nearby bridge and is part of a group that includes the Lock Cottage.
