Description
Somerton Lock Cottage is a lock-keeper's cottage, likely built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of buff brick with red-brick dressings and features a concrete plain-tile roof with a brick gable stack. The cottage has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall. The front has three windows, which have been renewed with two-light casements set in chamfered Tudor-arched surrounds. The central doorway also has a similar surround but is now located within a small 20th-century porch. The end walls feature smaller windows of the same design. The roof rises from a brick dentil eaves course and has the stack positioned to the left. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is part of a group that includes the lock and bridge nearby.
