Description
2 and 3 St Thomas Street are a cottage and house, likely built in the early to mid 18th century and altered in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings and feature Welsh-slate roofs with brick end stacks. The buildings have a two-unit and a single-unit plan and are two storeys high.
No. 2 is the earlier structure, characterized by a steep-pitched roof. It has a 2-light 20th-century casement window on each floor, which has likely been reduced in width at an early date. The doorway is positioned to the right, and all openings have ashlar flat arches.
No. 3, to the left, has a regular two-window front and is taller at the eaves. It features 3-light 18th-century casement windows on the first floor with chamfered lintels. The central doorway has a fielded 4-panel door, while the flanking windows have 9-pane 19th-century sashes set below earlier, wider limestone-ashlar flat arches. The roof has a moderate pitch and includes gable parapets with moulded projecting kneelers. The interiors have not been inspected.
