Description
23 and 25 Great Barrington Village are a pair of cottages, likely originally three cottages, dating from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. They are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with a stone slate roof on the front pitch and artificial stone slate at the rear. The cottages have ashlar stacks and a long rectangular plan, with a gabled extension at the rear of No 23 and lean-to extensions on either side of this gabled extension. The main body of the building is two storeys high and features a six-windowed facade, which is lit by single, two, and three-light wooden casements, most of which have small leaded panes, with some glazing possibly being original. All windows and doorways on the ground floor have segmental heads, and there are two plank doors. The axial and gable-end stacks have moulded cappings and skirtings. The interior has not been inspected. These cottages are part of the Barrington Park Estate.
