Description

RODMARTON RODMARTON VILLAGE ST 99 NW 6/143 Irongate Farmhouse GV II Large farmhouse. Very late C18, altered during C19. Recorded in Victoria County History as being post 1793 inclosures. Random coursed rubble stone partially faced in roughcast and with ashlar bays, stone slate roof, stone end stacks. 'L'-shape range formed by single main range with small service wing to rear on right, and lower parallel range on left in internal angle. Main block 2 storeys and attic, service range single storey and attic. South front has 2 large C19 canted bays with hipped roofs, each of 2 storeys with 12-pane sash to each face on each storey and flanking central single 12-pane on first floor and door below in flush stone surround up 2 stone steps, with top 2 panels arched and glazed, lower 2 flush. Bays have stepped offset between floors. Two small gabled dormers on eaves with twin 6-pane casements. Rear service wing has very tall brick ridge stack. Long range with 2 gabled dormers across eaves and one small leaded 2-light casement below eaves to left. C20 door below with cambered voussoir head; other fenestration scattered.
