Description

Nos 31, 32, and 33 Rodmarton are three adjoining cottages located in Rodmarton Village. Nos 31 and 32 were originally built as a Sunday School in 1828, as indicated by the datestone on No 31, with No 33 added slightly later. The cottages are constructed from coursed rubble stone and feature a stone slate roof with renewed stone stacks. Originally, the buildings formed a small 'L'-shape, with No 33 added to the forward projecting wing, creating a Z-plan layout.

The original block has four gabled dormers along the eaves on the south side, each with large paired casements. The ground floor of No 31 includes two similar casements with renewed timber lintels, flanking a central plank door that has quoins to the left and a gabled porch hood supported by struts. No 32 features a plank door in the angle and a 20th-century three-light casement on the other angle. The right-hand return of No 33 displays scattered fenestration, while the front has three windows, all of which are iron paired casements with timber lintels. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, and is topped by a gabled porch hood on struts. The cottages hold an important position next to the Church of St. Peter.
