Description

Great Lemhill Farmhouse is a farmhouse that originally dates from the late 17th century and was significantly enlarged in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with end and scattered ashlar stacks, which have moulded cornices. The original L-shaped range has an additional rear range added at the angle, extending to the west and north, and is mostly two storeys with an attic.

The main front faces southeast and has three windows, with two additional openings that have been blocked. The windows are two-light stone mullions with transoms and square hoodmoulds, some of which contain leaded casements. On the ground floor, there are four similar windows that have been restored, including arched paired casements to the left of the central doorway, and 20th-century casements to the right. The central doorway features a wide stone shallow gabled porch with a flattened archway, leading to a six-panel door that has the top two panels glazed and the rest flush, along with a plain arched fanlight. There are also two raking dormers with twin six-pane casements.

The main 19th-century front facing southwest has two gable ends, with the left gable coped. The right-hand gable end of the original range has two eight-pane sashes with moulded stone lintels on both the first and ground floors. A steep central gabled timber porch adds to the character of the building.
